A message from the Executive Director
My daughter and I celebrating her 18th bithday
Thank you for visiting Mary's Comfort Ministries. As hopefully a frequent visitor, you will be able to keep up with the incredible growth of this ministry in the next several months and the years to come. These are exciting times in the body of Christ and especially in the mission field. The needs are great and the blessings are astounding. We run solely by financial donations from people like you. No amount is too small. Your donation goes a long way in this ministry. Many widows and orphans we work with live on little or no income. Many of the young people are still transitioning from the streets to the family life once again and we are in the process of helping them obtain employment, housing, and transportation. We help them with food, gas money, clothing, etc. We have homes that need to be built for the youth and for the widows, and salaries to be raised for new staff to come on board to help with the work load.
We ask that you please pray about your involvement in Mary’s Comfort.
As lives are being changed, always remember that you had a part in bringing the gospel to the lost. This ministry is made possible thanks to the faithful donations of our partners and corporate sponsors, the caring staff, volunteers and prayer warriors. Together, our Mary's Comfort family is making a difference in the lives of tomorrow's leaders.
Together we have begun to help people grow and make lasting changes in their lives.
The call for Mary’s Comfort and this ministry to serve from Southern Indiana has never been greater. As, I said, your finances go a long way in this ministry. I challenge you in your giving to the women and children of your community through Mary’s Comfort. Pray and be obedient to what God tells you and then watch what God does through your sacrifice, serving, and selflessness. We’d appreciate having you on the team with us!
Thank you for rising to the challenge to do all you can to make a difference in the life of a widow and/or an orphan.
"The longest journey must begin with a single step." That seems to be a motto lately. In the state of despair and loneliness that we find widows and orphans in, problems can seem daunting or even overwhelming. But not if we step out with courage and confidence. That is what drives us here at Mary's Comfort. The courage and confidence that we have in our Lord. As deep as our challenges are, deeper still is the hope for a better future.
With gratitude and blessings,
Sean Stevens,

A personal struggle and message for "the church"
I have often struggled with the failure of our governments programs to care for those less fortunate in our communities. I realized that we have put the blame on the wrong people. We expected the government to take care of what the church was created for. The church for centuries has been a place where those in need could turn for help. Whole church communities would gather together and raise funds for families in need. They would close their businesses, leave work, leave the chores, and bring the whole family to build homes, feed the hungry and clothe the needy. Now we simply are content with handing out a few morsels of food and a couple of dollars, maybe even a $10.00 gas voucher to fuel the car for one trip.
There are still a handful of organizations that keep this tradition of love alive, but only a few. We all should be a part of the same body!
When did we (the church) become so hypocritical? We have failed in our mandate from God. There are no words to express God's disgust at our selfishness. His children have been given so much and God continues to offer his mercy and grace to us even despite our failures and wickedness. In fact, He would give us everything that we need if we would only turn back and follow him. In Matthew 6:33 Jesus tells us plainly "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." What does that really mean?
It means that all these "THINGS" will be given to us when we turn towards the Father who gave us life and believe in Him. The "things" are everything we need! But we have become so cynical and demanding that if we don't get it right this moment we say that God doesn't care and even go as far as to say that he did not want to help us. OR sometimes we say that Satan is keeping the blessings from us. Wrong again! Satan only has the power over us that we give him.
All of our behaviors in the modern day church were foreseen by God. In Deuteronomy 4:30 it is written; When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the LORD your God and obey him. We, (the church) are seeing the "distress" in our lives, our congregations and in the country. There are churches "splitting" over petty disagreements and gossip, there are backsliding Christians pulling the church down and "tolerance" and "acceptance" are destroying the very fabric of the faith like cancer. Some examples are homosexual pastors and even entire congregations claiming the homosexual lifestyle. For every 10 men in church, 5 are struggling with pornography.
What is even worse, the church's voice against the rampant slaughter of infants by abortion is growing silent. Until we recognize our wrongs we will not see the kingdom of God! The Lord said: if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2Chronicles 7:14)
Church, please stand with me and pray! Let's ask God for forgiveness and for the blessing for His people. In these last days we need to stand united especially with all of the calamity that is coming. Let's get back to giving instead of complaining, hoarding and turning a blind eye. It is about time we walk back into the light and share the love that heals! Amen?
